Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1a) Installed from: RedHat RPMs Compiler: gcc OS: Linux Moving an icon by a few millimeters on the desktop or in konqueror (for example 5 millimeters) does not move it actually : the icon comes back to its old position. A small translation of an icon thus requires a drag to a corner of the desktop, and then a move back to the wanted position. It is in fact annoying, and creates a feeling a frustration (I can't move my icon as I want - the icon resists and wants to stay to its original position). The option "align to grid" does not actually solve this problem : it sometimes makes big icons overlap (or the position of some icons is just not satisfactory), and it actually creates situations where the user needs to move the icons by a few millimeters. I suggest to make improve the accuracy of the icon drag-and-drop, and reduce the gap to 2 millimeters maximum or to provide a slider to configure this accuracy.
It is even worse in kde cvs (20030804)

There's a Qt patch for this already, in qt-copy. Not sure if/when it will be applied to Qt. See qt-copy/patches/0021-qiconview-dragalittle.patch
