Description Sander Devrieze 2003-07-16 19:52:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Jabber kio to access a server as a user but also for doing admin tasks on a server

user tasks:
Sending/receiving messages to users
Jabber browsing
registering transports
...

admin tasks:
listing online users
setting motd
send server message
...

This kio can be used of course by kopete but maybe also by kaddressbook, kmail, krfb, all games with chatsupport (games with multiple players can use MUC), in games to invite people in your contact list to play a game (if I'm right there will be in the future a JEP for inviting people via Jabber), kdevelop (e.g.: contacting other developers but also to make use of Jabberbots which can help with hacking.), KDE Helpcenter (e.g.: also to make use of bots to ask question but *also* asking advice from other people about something. The last thing makes that docwriters, hackers, usability people,... can use this feedback to improve their work but the people with a question will love KDE more because they can be helped better),...

This can be one of the killer features of KDE 4.0 :D

I'm not using KDE CVS, but I heard of KIMProxy...does that have the functionality I describe in my wish?

Jabber is in decline today, so this doesn't seem likely, sorry.
