Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux Hi, I haven't found (Google, Help, Docs,..) any hint how to start a program either through KControl->Menu or within an icon on the Desktop with/in a minimized window (in background) Can be that there are Terminal options to be set, but it seems as if they are kept stricly confidential ;-) I'd suggest either radio buttons maximized <-> minimized or check button minimized if checked. Anyway thanks for your fantastic work, Carl
you want this: kstart --iconify <command> check out `kstart --help`, lots of goodies in there... i suppose what this is, then, is a wishlist item asking for kstart options to be available in the dialog... tricky, but doable.. i wouldn't expect it any time soon, though, unless you supply a patch ;-)

KDE is compeeting MS-Win and should be better!) By the way (just found out) the option --noclose does not work correctly, you don't get a prompt back to go on: the konsole stucks. Tested with several programs not only 'myprg.pl'. Do you have freecive? Try this: kstart --iconify konsole --noclose -e civserver Then quit the server and see what happens (try to restart on that console) Carl
Moving from "kio/kfile" component to "kfile" product, helps sorting out duplicates.
You should be able to this with KWin window rules.
