Description Daniel Franke 2003-06-30 13:14:06 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc-3.2.2
OS: Solaris

After booting solaris '/tmp' is cleared, so '.ICE-unix', '.X11-pipe' will be created when starting KDE the first time after reboot.

These files are created as:
>ls -la /tmp/
drwxrwxr-x 2 <user> <grp> 254 Jun 30 13:01 .ICE-unix
drwxrwxr-x 2 root root 176 Jun 30 13:01 .X11-pipe
drwxrwxr-x 2 root root 176 Jun 30 13:01 .X11-unix

instead of (from my linux box):
drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 48 2003-06-16 11:33 .ICE-unix
drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 48 2003-06-16 11:34 .X11-unix

so, KDE can only be started by members of <grp>, no one else. Somewhat annoying if you don't know what to look for when you are not allowed to login ;)

there were more reports of this type, but i'm not eager to find them. in any case it's
not a kdm (or kde at all) problem.
