Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.2) Installed from: SuSE RPMs It is not possible to paste text from vmware to ANY kde application. It makes no difference if klipper is running or not or how klipper is configured. Pasting from vmware to standard xterm (while kde is running) does work! "Copy and Paste" ist enabled in the VMware "input preferences". Pasting from kde/klipper TO vmware works.
Can you paste from wmware to: - Konsole? - single line edit field? - multiple lines edit field? If you have Klipper running, does it appear in its history?
It doesn't. I can confirm this.
And does it work with Mozilla or some Gtk apps?
Klipper turned on or off, or with any settings, the behaviour is always the same. I can: - copy from any application to VMWare - if the clipboard synchronisation is not in effect, only the clipboard works in VMWare -- selection never does. - copy from VMWare to any pure X application (tested with Emacs) - copy from VMWare to a GTK application -- pasting with MMB, not with Ctrl+V or Paste menu I cannot: - copy from VMWare to a KDE application or Mozilla - copy from VMWare to a GTK application if I try to paste with Ctrl+V

So I suspect that the problem comes from basic library issues or even QT. > > - single line edit field? > - multiple lines edit field? I do not know what you mean? Are these functions available in kate? I mentioned the problem in the kate-bugs list only because there seems to be no list (?) for general kde issues. But I am really quite sure that the problem ist the same with every instance of paste under kde. > If you have Klipper running, does it appear in its history? No. Actually, I have this annoying but not too grave problem ever since I am using vmware and kde together (several years). I was never sure if the problem is caused by vmware. After upgrading to kde 3.1.2 and the newest vmware version, I again made some tests to solve the problem and found out that pasting to the normal xterm (belonging to XFree86-4.3.0) with the usual middle mouse button works fine. So I thought it might be time to report a bug. Pasting works to gimp, evolution and mozilla.
Pasting to mozilla mail with mmb works for me. From the menu or ctl-v the last klipper entry is pasted instead .
The same problem occurs when I want to copy/paste through x2x. Pasting from an X server to a KDE (or qt) application running on the other X server is impossible. No problem with pure X or gtk apps. I haven't tried with tk :)
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 60247 ***
This bug has been resolved because it was marked a duplicate of bug 60247. Bug 60247 has been resolved with a resolution of WORKSFORME. But 60247 refers to xcoral and I can't comment on whether it actually works or not. However, As of the latest version of KDE (3.2.3) and vmware (4.5.2) you still cannot paste into kde apps from vmware. Pasting into X and GTK apps works just fine. I'm using Fedora Core 2 as my host OS and win2k as my guest OS on vmware.
Reopening.
If the bug is still in recent version of Qt, please report directly to qt-bugs@trolltech.com
