Description conleth.ruane 2003-06-28 17:32:01 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs
OS:          Linux

I find the icons of applets e.g. kopete, kbiff in the dock too small and I would like to be able to make as big as the other icons on the panel (panel size large).

The icons need to be generally resizeable. Currently, they cannot shrink at all, so they get chopped off when the panel is set to 'tiny' size.

Why can't the applet at least do a resample on the images as a temporary solution? Then it would work somewhat decent instead of not at all.

BTW, I suggest adding (at least) "custom" and "size" to the keywords for this bug...

It should be able to resize the system tray icons. Many Icons are too big.

I think the (intentionally) undocumented setting:

[System Tray]
sysTrayIconWidth=22

in config/kdeglobals

would give you the functionality you want for most applets allowing scaling up or down to whatever size you desire (22 is default, 16 suits tiny).

Comment 11 Ivor Hewitt 2006-01-06 17:39:06 UTC
oh, should have said "In kde 3.5" too.

I agree the size of the icons in the tray should be changeable in an easy way (same menu as where I can hide icons or icons section in kcontrol). It is absurd that the bigger you make the kicker the smaller the tray icons (and the buttons for the active programs) get. I make the kicker bigger to be able to see everything in it easier.

[System Tray]
sysTrayIconWidth=22

That setting cuts the icons instead of resizing them...
Comment 14 Ivor Hewitt 2006-09-26 15:58:55 UTC
No it doesn't it resizes... (well, as long as the application's icon code is correct, but most applets do scale correctly)
However, you will need to bounce kicker and the applets to pick up the settings.

Kicker is no more mantained and all bugs/wishes will not be fixed/implemented in KDE3. A list of the most interesting/unresolved issues which is still valid for KDE4 has been created. Before reopening old kicker bugs on KDE4 Plasma, please try the new KDE 4.3.1, check the current behaviour and, only if you find new bugs or if you need a particular feature, open a new bug report.

Remember that KDE 4 is a full rewrite of KDE 3 so some old features will not be re-implemented because the behaviour has be changed a lot on some sides.

Thanks for the comprehension and enjoy the new KDE 4!
