Version: 1.5.2 (using KDE KDE 3.1.2) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux The new mail popup currently shows something like "There is some new mail". It should rather show the sender and the subject: "New mail by myfriend@home: Lets go fishing". This would be very helpful to decide to read the email now or later, and could save some klicks and desktop switchings, IMO. If there are several new mails it could show "There is several new mails" and *possibly* show sender/subject of the last one. Also see: Bug 57908 (wish).
Perhaps even providing a link to click to send you to the most recent mail. I belive this is possible with KNotify or even directly with KPassivePopup, but i am not sure how to implement it.

very interresting feature !! The possibility to view subject and sender will be awesome :)
A vote for this feature from me. Showing sender and/or subject in the popup is not necessary since the idea of passive popup is to be just a *notification*, not a mail reader itself. However, popup with clickable link focusing kmail and opening the folder where new mail is located would be really neat feature.
I agree this would be good (albeit not very original). You have my vote.

Sounds like a great junior job.

We can use plasmoid widgets that shows new mail, for example, this: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/KMail+Plasmoid+%28MockUp%29?content=114794 or this: http://vizzzion.org/?blogentry=908 But none of they are in active development :(
This feature request is still valid for KMail 2
I'll try to work on this.
