Description Kristian Eide 2003-06-14 10:54:34 UTC
Version: 1.5 (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
OS: Linux

When 'leave mail on server' is enabled I want to be able to create a filter which both downloads the mail AND deletes it from the server; very useful togheter with spam filtering software when you don't want to leave spam on the server, but still want to download it in case the spam filtering software makes a mistake.

It seems to me that this is part of a wider issue. The POP3 filter is an
excellent idea but would be more flexible if the operations performed were
independently triggered.

Currently you have to choose ONE of Download Now, Download later (ie
do nothing), Delete. Furthermore, if you have disabled the global account
option Delete Mail on Server, Delete does nothing - this is surely a bug?

Wouldn't it be simpler if you had two checkboxes:

Download message
Delete message on server (after downloading, if applicable)

which could be independently set, with the 'Delete on server' operating
whether or not you had the global 'Delete Mail on Server' option set. That
way you could delete known spam immediately, or download it and then
delete it on the server.
