Version: 0.6.2 (using KDE 3.1.2) Installed from: (testing/unstable) Compiler: gcc version 3.3 (Debian) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20 When I delete a contact from the the Contacs [OSCAR protocol and ICQ contacts definatly incur this problem] the contact will reappear when they logout and log back in or when I restart Kopete.
Choosing 'Save Contact List' after deleting unwanted contacts does not solve this issue. Even after restarting Kopete.
This occurs because the contact list in Kopete is not synced with the contact list on the server.
Even temporary contact are added to the server contactlist (AIM) so next connection, they appears back even if you didn't add them
Created attachment 2336 [details] should fix serverside deletion and renaming for most cases The problem with modifying the serverside-list is caused by and old-design flaw. The groupID for a certain contact is unknown. As a workaround I know search in the OSCAR grouplist for the group "by name" and assume that#s the right group of that contact. It should work fine as long as the ICQ contact is in the same Group on both the Server and in Kopete
My patch is said to work as long as the group on server is the same.
same with aim contacts in the kde 3.2.1 version. i delete a contact, choose save contact list from the menu, restart kopete, and TADAA - they're back.
same in the kde 3.2.2 version with kopete 0.8.2. I delete a (buddy) contact (for example msn) and the msn account immediately goes offline and reconnects automatically, and the deleted contact is there again. Annoying :(
