Description Yves Glodt 2003-06-01 20:02:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

The idea is to enable people who use Mozilla or Opera (or any browser that supports netscape
plugins) to see files for which a kpart exists in the browser.

Something similar has been done for Gnome and it's bonobo parts:
http://www.nongnu.org/moz-bonobo/

This code could even be used since it consists of a quite "generic" netscape plugin, and
an executable to actually interface with the bonobo libraries.

For kparts, one could leave the plugin as it is (...), and write a new executable
which interfaces with the kparts libraries.

...the mozilla-bonobo developer told me this would be easy to do ;)

Sure this is a good idea. I just wonder why it should be filed as a
wishlist against KDE though. It makes more sense to create this as a
separate projects. If you're a developer, it would be a good opportunity for
you to learn how KDE and KParts work! Anyways I guess I'll leave this open
for now. Maybe someone will do it one day.

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS and all related Java/plugin infrastructure) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
