I'll explain this in more detail. 
I have Audigy 2 and when I play DVD I use Surround,Center, LFE and Wave to adjust the overall volume. When I play mp3 I use Wave, Wave Center, Wave LFE and Wave surround to adjust the volume.

The idea is to create user definable groups with it's master. The master would preserve the ratio of individual controls in the group while changing. There should be also possibility to display only group masters. Maybe the best design would be to display only group masters and clicking the master would open a popup window with individual controls.
