Description Jarne Cook 2003-04-28 09:09:30 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1a)
Installed from: Debian stable Packages
OS: Linux

There are 3 folders that should be treated as special.

Those 3 being
Drafts, Sent Items, and Trash. Inbox is already special so it should just be implicit that im ignoring Inbox.

When setting up a new account ... the special folders for the account should default to the folders in the account.

Eg. "Sent Items" should be the default for "Sent-mail folder:", and "Drafts" should be the default for "Drafts folder:". Simmarly "Trash" should be the default for the accounts "Trash folder:". At the moment they default to the local account.

As these are special folders it would be also usefull if there was an option (default: enabled) that always has the account's folder listing in the following order. Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Trash.

It would also be nice if there were Icons for each special folder.

When setting up the account (and maybe other times) the folders should be created (if they aren't already).

I agree with this wishlist item and think it should be rolled in with Bug 64796.

The only edit I'd make to the above item is that I think you should always be able to choose the special folder locations for any email identity. I realize that currently you can choose the special folders, but as this bug says:

a) they don't default properly relative to the inbox, and
b) it doesn't appear as though a chosen special foler is truly special (this involves moving it to top of folder list & assigned it special icon)

Actually I posted a patch that (amongst other things) addresses this to the KMail developers list on November 11th, but it has been ignored without comments so far:

This bug/missing feature still persists in kmail2 in KDE 4.7.3.
It is very annoying when having to configure multiple Accounts, since you have to set the folders at to different points for _each_ account.
All other clients, that I have tried, do not need this manual adjustment.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.

This bug is still valid in kmail2. As an example, the only folder I can set in a sisconnected imap account is trash.
