Description wilbert 2003-04-10 13:32:09 UTC
Version: 1.5.1 (using KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: Gentoo
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.1
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20

When I drag-drop an attachment from KMail to my homedir or Desktop, KDE opens a menu with "Move here", "Copy here", "Link here" entries. I think this is unessary, as it should just save the attachment without popping up the menu.

I know you don't want to know the technical reason for this but I'm going to tell it to you
anyway. Technically the attachment icon in KMail points to a file in a temporary directory. This
means that dragging the attachment to Konqueror is, technically, in no way different from
dragging a file from one Konqueror window to another Konqueror window. I don't think there is a
way to avoid the popup without making dragging and dropping of attachments from KMail to
Konqueror overly complicated.

possibly if we make the attachment read only it will only give the copy option and do it automatically.

This bug is still present and is also causing data-loss.

I have a html-email with an embedded mpg movie (attachments->inline); when I dragged it to my desktop I was surprised to see a 'move' entry.

Selecting the move created a file on my desktop, but that file was 0 bytes. The 0 bytes-filesize is something the average user is NOT going to find out so this is a severe usability bug.

I tested in kde 3.3beta1, and the Move option works like the Copy option (no zero byte file).
But I would like Move option to disappear.

Move options works fine on kmail-1.7.1(kde-3.3.1),but it's still a bad behavior since only the copy option (and thus automatically) should be available.

Should it be changed to whishlist and title changed too?

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 8 Luigi Toscano 2012-08-19 01:03:39 UTC
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
