Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc 3.2 OS: Linux I don't know how practical this is, but I was wondering if there was any chance the Yahoo plugin could be extended to handle Yahoo Group chats? Currently the only interface that exists for those is a java window, which is often less than optimal. It seems to be a little different setup from the regular Yahoo Message stuff, but I thought I would pose the question in hopes someone was willing and able to make it work.
This will go in sometime after Kopete 0.7 is released, along with a lot of other cool and new features. :)
Cool :-). Let me know when testing time comes - I'll be very glad to try it out. Just to be sure - did I identify the specific chat setup in question well enough? There seem to be several variations of Yahoo chat envrionments. The one I'm talking about is the one members of a groups.yahoo.com group would see after clicking the Chat link in the left hand menu, which is apparently completely separate from other Yahoo chat setups. It basically acts as a stripped down version of IRC, with some cute IM style emoticons and such thrown in. You need to be a member of the Yahoo group to even access it. Are we on the same page?
Yes, we are. The bug will be closed when I actually get this implemented, and you'll be able to test it then (since it will be in CVS).
I started coding support for conference rooms. I hope to get it working soon

reassigning to kopete-devel since duncan doesn't have time to code anymore :(
does connecting to those yahoo groups chat is the same procedure as joining a friend playing on games.yahoo.com ? gaim support that, its very handy to reach a friend on yahoo Games. i guess yahoo dont make any difference between chats and games. you are log'in into the website and you are in some sort or room in both case.

Yahoo chat does no longer exist in this form and is no longer supported even in the official client.
Hi, Well, I read carefully many bug/wishlist report about this topic. I understand the yahoo! medium doesn't support the chat rooms anymore. OK. But it supports a simple feature: the possibility to invite a third user to an already opened chat. Like kopete can handle it with the MSN plugin: In the GUI: Click on "Chat" >> "Invite" >> "User name" That's for MSN. I don't understand why this is written as "resolved". Should I get another version of the plugin? I'm running kopete 0.11.1. Thanks.
That's called conferences and is supported in Kopete 0.12.

I came in searching for this kind of bug report as well. Gaim supports such chat and official Windows client does too. Please implement it for Kopete as well.
