Version: 1.5 (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: RedHat RPMs When selecting the "Date (Order of Arrival)" sorting option in the thread preview pane, it seems that messages are displayed in ORDER OF ARRIVAL IN THAT FOLDER RATHER THAN ORDER OF DELIVERY (or arrival in KMail). The date used for ordering in this mode should either be the most recent "Received" header or a timestamp applied the first time the message is seen by KMail. For instance, a message received last week and filed in the inbox will appear to be the most recent message when it is moved to a subfolder of inbox.
Subject: Re: New: order by date of arrival doesn't Sorting by "Order of Arrival" sorts by the serial number that is given to the messages the first time KMail sees them. As the serial number are strictly increasing this means that the messages are sorted by their arrival in KMail. This won't be changed. It may happen that a message is given a new serial number under certain circumstances. This would explain the "strange" sorting of the one week old message you noticed.

Subject: Re: order by date of arrival doesn't Sorry for re-closing the bug report. I erroneously sent some messages a second time.
Replaced michael.wardle@adacel.com with null@kde.org due to bounces by reporter
works fine on kmail-1.7.1(kde-3.3.1 ) should this be closed?
It's still not completely correct, but since we won't improve it further for the time being, I'll close it.
