Description Jose M. Benitez 2003-02-12 01:17:29 UTC
Version: 1.4.3. (using KDE KDE 3.0.5)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
Compiler: gcc 3.2
OS: Linux

I intend to use more than one identity (i.d. e-mail address) from within the same computer. One of them is an address within my ISP domain. The others are corresponding to other domains. Since my ISP policy is not to allow email message rely throughout its network, it is filtering messages whose envelope sender address don't belong to its domain.

This means that messages sent with the ISP-domain identity are sent without trouble. However, I cannot sent messages with identities corresponding to other domains. My only solution would be to get kmail using two different sender addresses: one for the header, the one I want to appear at my recipients' mail program as sender, and other for the envelope, the one checked at my ISP routers.

This issue would be "solved" by previous versions of kmail (have a look on Bug#13459) where the same address was used for the envelope sender regardless the identity used. But this behavior isn't right.

What has to be included in order to provide this functionality is kmail to allow the configuration of the envelope sender address independently of the header sender address. For instance, in addition to current identity configuration, when adding a new "transport" use the identity address as a default value or letting the user specify a different address.

This is a problem with e-mail forwardng also.
I subscribed to a mailing list using an alias for my email address.
if I send a mail to the list, my real address will be showing at the sender section (I'm not sure if it would be blocked), builded from my login and my smtp server address, I belive. I can do this on Thunderbird (www.mozilla.org) on the field "e-mail address", wich would display on the messages I send any address I want.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
