Version: KMail 1.5 (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs When I try to reply to an HTML message that I receive here at work the message does not format correctly and ends up keeping all the HTML tags in the plain text document. This HTML mail is usually being sent from Outlook through a Microsoft Exchange Server. Other e-mail clients such as Sylpheed, Evolution or The Bat (windows) will normally break this HTML message up into two content types (one HTML and one Plain text). KMail is not doing this and in the preview pane of content types I'm only getting one content type for these messages- HTML. I'd love this to be fixed somehow because as it stands now I can't use KMail here at work since everyone else here is on Outook sending me these crappy HTML messages.
Subject: Re: New: Replying to certain HTML messages does not render in plain text correctly Please send us such a message. But I'm pretty sure that those messages are HTML-only message which means there is not plain text version included in the message. Obviously KMail can't use a non-existant plain text message part. You should tell your co-workers not to send HTML messages or at least to send messages in HTML _and_ plain text format.
What address should I send one of these emails sent to. I actully have a known offender send one:) I agree that they shoudn't do it, but the point is that tons of people do send such messages and somehow sylpheed and evolution have a way of displaying them as text without the html tags so it would be nice if kmail had such an option as well.
Subject: Re: Replying to certain HTML messages does not render in plain text correctly Please send the message either as attachment to 54021@bugs.kde.org or, if it's contents is too private to send it to a public place, then send it to me.
Subject: concerning html reply bug(?) 54021 In response to the e-mail you sent me concerning this bug ( http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54021 ) in which you wanted me to send you an offending e-mail: I got in to work today to send you and e-mail that comes as html that I can't reply to with plain text and then I realized the problem is only with e-mails that are residing on the IMAP Microsoft Exchange server. In those IMAP folders any plain text seems to be stripped...YET.... somehow Sylpheed and Evolution do manage to strip out the HTML stuff (if that's even what's really being done). I know you can probably care less about M$ stuff but it would be nice if there was a way I could get the messages to behave differently that reside on this server when using Kmail. At least when I reply it would be nice if somehow the html formatting was stripped out. Let me know if there is any other kind of testing I could do to help. Thanks,
I sent you an e-mail concerning this problem. Further inquiry into this problem revealed that the problem is ONLY with HTML mail that is residing in my IMAP folders which reside on a Microsoft Exchange Server. (Somehow they are stripping out the extra plain text part that I receive when Outlook mails are mailed to my normal pop accounts). Somehow, though, other mail clients do still manage in some way to treat this mail as plain text (stripping out the HTML formatting). ( Sylpheed and Evolution are the only others I've tested ). Not sure how they are doing it but it would be nice if somehow KMail could do the same. (I know it sucks having to deal with the Microsoft world... unfortunately many of us are stuck in at work:) Thanks for looking into this and let me know if there is anything else I could do to help.
