Created attachment 189506 [details] Brief video showing the new behavior SUMMARY I noticed around mid-2025, when Dolphin began the process of being overhauled, that the behavior for creating new files and folders was changed unexpectedly. The original behavior always created new files/folders within the current directory, regardless of if a file was selected or not. However, now it will create new files/folders (aka subfolders) within a directory if it is selected. As far as I'm aware, this is not toggleable within the settings, nor was I aware this behavior was changed until I noticed it didn't work the way I was used to. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a folder (doesn't matter the method), or use an existing folder 2. Select the folder 3. Create a new file/folder with the previous folder selected OBSERVED RESULT The new file/folder is not created within the current directory, rather it's created within the selected directory. EXPECTED RESULT New files/folders should be created within the current directory, regaredless of whether or not a folder is currently selected. I don't think this feature should be removed, rather it should ask the user upon creating a file/folder for the first time what behavior they would prefer, and also provide a toggle within Dolphin's settings.
