Description kdebugs8 2026-02-10 12:24:57 UTC
SUMMARY
The edited images that have transparent background parts become white when edited with marking etc.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open up Gwenview.
2. Pick a picture with transparent background.
3. Use the marking tool that pops open another window.

OBSERVED RESULT
The marking tools window has transparency as white and also saves it as white instead of background. That makes marking the image without loss basically impossible.

EXPECTED RESULT
The transparent background would stay as transparent when going to the marking and would save it as transparent and not white.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma: Manjaro KDE 6.18.8
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.22.0
Qt Version: 6.10.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Fixing this would be really great so that it would be easy to mark things without losses to the image.
