Whenever I open an instance of Dolphin, my network connection disconnects and reconnects. I have both hard-wired Ethernet and WiFi on this system and it happens regardless of which I'm using. This does not happen with Nautilus, Thunar, et. al. This is repeatable on my system. dmesg output for WiFi: [41095.630382] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: deauthenticating from ec:c3:02:93:06:28 by local choice (Reason: 3=DEAUTH_LEAVING) [41095.757012] e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eno1: NIC Link is Down [41099.462546] e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eno1: NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: Rx/Tx [41103.146624] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: authenticate with ec:c3:02:93:06:2c (local address=8c:86:dd:aa:30:a7) [41103.213660] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: send auth to ec:c3:02:93:06:2c (try 1/3) [41103.219224] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: authenticated [41103.220394] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: associate with ec:c3:02:93:06:2c (try 1/3) [41103.223897] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: RX AssocResp from ec:c3:02:93:06:2c (capab=0x1011 status=0 aid=21) [41103.229035] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: associated [41103.314803] wlx8c86ddaa30a7: Limiting TX power to 30 (30 - 0) dBm as advertised by ec:c3:02:93:06:2c STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1.Open Dolphin OBSERVED RESULT Disconnects and reconnects from/to network EXPECTED RESULT Leaves network connection alone SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 24.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.12 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Qt Version: 5.15.13 Kernel Version: 6.8.0-100-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: offscreen Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD CEDAR
Do you have any network folders (smb, ftp, etc.) configured in dolphin?
Hi Tobias, I have some folders that are being exported/shared via NFS and SMB from this system but they're not configured in Dolphin. By "configured" I'm assuming you mean NFS and/or SMB folders that are mounted and show up in Dolphin. I've been using Thunar for the last few days (I don't like it near as much as Dolphin) and I've done a couple of updates/upgrades and now, trying Dolphin again, I can't get it to repeat. I've switched the default file manager back to Dolphin and I can't get it to disconnect. I spent 45 years as a professional programmer (FORTRAN/DISSPLA, C/Motif/Qt, C++/OpenGL/Qt) so I know that there is nothing more annoying than a non-repeatable bug. Or, as Microsoft used to say, "if it's not repeatable, it's not a bug". So, until I can get it to start doing it again (and I hope it doesn't) you might as well let it slide. Thank you so much for getting back to me so promptly and thanks for a really great file manager. Hi Tobias, It started up again. I have no idea what's going on. Is there any kind of debugging I can do to get a clue? Hi Tobias, One more thing, I'm running another Linux box (Kubuntu 24.04 like this one) and it doesn't have this problem. It does mount the NFS shares from this system though and they show up in the sidebar of Dolphin. On this system the SMB shared folders show up under "Remote->Network->Shared Folders (SMB). I stopped the SMB servers and that didn't make any difference. If there is anything I can do to try to clear this up please let me know. I doubt that this is a major problem since it seems I'm the only one experiencing it ;-) Cheers, Jan On 2/9/26 08:41, Tobias Fella wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=515621 > > Tobias Fella <fella@posteo.de> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO > CC| |fella@posteo.de > Status|REPORTED |NEEDSINFO > > --- Comment #1 from Tobias Fella <fella@posteo.de> --- > Do you have any network folders (smb, ftp, etc.) configured in dolphin? >
