STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Type your password on the password's input field. 2. Type your password on the Terminal's input field OBSERVED RESULT It's inconsistent. PLM reveals how long your password is. EXPECTED RESULT Being able to replace "*******" with "Typing..." or have nothing in there. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: CachyOS Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.22.0 Qt Version: 6.10.2 Kernel Version: 6.18.8-2-cachyos (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-11300H @ 3.10GHz Memory: 9 GB of RAM (8.1 GB usable) Graphics Processor 1: Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics Graphics Processor 2: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 82MG System Version: IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IHU6
Whilst it's common in CLI/TUI applications to not provide a placeholder character and obscure the length of the password, this is so uncommon in GUI applications that I can't think of any example, and certainly none in KDE. I don't believe there's any strong reason to add an option, or for any such option to be particular to PLM and not in any other password input in KDE.
