Description Daniel Herkes 2002-12-05 13:23:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.9)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

My binary is in /usr/sbin, and the mailer still complains that sendmail is an unrecognised protocol. I switched back from qmail, due to the tremendous load of internal messages that beast generated! Oops, now I connot use my kmailer.

Did you change the existing qmail account into a sendmail account? Or did you create a new
account for sendmail and deleted the old one?
Did you verify that sendmail works?

Subject: bug report

Hi,

I deleted the qmail program. and installed sendmail from scratch. I then
restarted all of the services. since qmail had been uninstalled, sendmail
strted right up. The binary lives in /usr/sbin. I masquerade my pc as
mail.herkes.org, since my private network ends up on the banned list if I
don't! Sendmail does work, at least from pine. Kmail is now dead, and I
miss it!

Thanks Dan

You didn't answer all of my questions:

Which command line is used for sendmail? Is it /usr/sbin/sendmail? Or
did you add some parameters which were probably needed by qmail but
which are not supported by sendmail?

I've had the same problem with KDE 3.0.5.a, but the transport protocol is SMTP and not sendmail. I found a work around by deleting unsent messages from the "outbox" mailbox.

I have tried that too, but the error still persists until I remove the mail

sounds to me like a duplicate.
