SUMMARY I’d been using Export to Mediawiki in Digikam for a couple of years to bulk upload / upload multiple images to Wikimedia Commons, but have run into a problem in recent versions (8.7 and 8.8). Earlier, while using the Export to MediaWiki, besides being able to apply common Upload Settings to all files, I could edit the Item Properties of individual images or groups of images. For instance, if I want to apply a particular ‘Category’ at once to 3 of 10 images I’m uploading, I could select all three and type the specific category in the category box and it would apply it to all 3 images at one go, without changing the filename (‘Title’ in Item Properties) or timestamp (‘Date’ in Item Properties). I confirmed this by downloading an earlier version (Digikam 7.0.0). In recent versions of Digikam (including the current 8.8), any attempt to apply a category or description to multiple items continues to work as before, but ends up changing the ‘Title’ of all the images in the upload queue to become identical to the ‘Title’/filename of the last image in the selected bunch while bulk-applying the category. This does not affect the ‘Date’ field in Item Properties, which remains unique to each image. However, the fact that it changes the ‘Title’ results in a conflict, every image uploaded with the same ‘Title’ may overwrite the previous one or result in an error on Wikimedia Commons. It is a serious issue because, as a result of this problem, each Item can only be individually edited, and it is not possible to apply any category or description at the same time to multiple items any more, which I earlier could and found to be hugely time-saving while doing bulk uploads. This seems to be a bug, and I also posted this the kde discussion site and did not get a response as on date: https://discuss.kde.org/t/problem-with-mediawiki-plugin-while-uploading-multiple-files/43694 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install and run Digikam 8.8.0 2. Select multiple (say 3) images with unique filenames and timestamps and Export/Export to MediaWiki 3. In the Export to MediaWiki dialog box, select all 3 items on the left and in the 'Item Properties' on the right type anything in the Categories box (say 'Test'). 4. Now click on individual images on the left and see the corresponding Item Properties. OBSERVED RESULT The Category 'Test' has been applied to all three files, but all three files also have their 'Title' changed to the filename of the third image. The Date/timestamp remains unique. EXPECTED RESULT The Category 'Test' has been applied to all three files, while all three files have 'Title' unchanged and unique. The Date/timestamp remains unique.
