Description Alfred07 2026-01-25 07:20:54 UTC
SUMMARY
Tags assigned for payment in transactions are entered in the increase column in tag management.
And vice versa.
This makes the result incorrect in the tag manager

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create a payment transaction and assign a tag
2. go to tag manager and choose the tag : the payment appears in the increase column

OBSERVED RESULT
the payment appears in the increase column

EXPECTED RESULT
the payment must appears in the decrease column

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Kmymoney 5.2.1 : flatpak, appimage or in distribution package (LinuxMint, Cachyos, Manjaro…)
Comment 1 Thomas Baumgart 2026-01-25 15:14:23 UTC
Yes, that is by design, because the tag is referencing the category, not the account. On the category, it is an increase.
Comment 2 Jack 2026-01-25 16:29:30 UTC
Is there any way to apply a tag to the main Account split of a transaction instead of the Category split?
Comment 3 Thomas Baumgart 2026-01-25 16:46:16 UTC
Yes, open the existing transaction in the category ledger and assign the tag there.
