Description Damglador 2026-01-16 15:26:01 UTC
SUMMARY
After some update, I can no longer extract archive in the same directory it is in by drag&dropping it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin
2. Enter a directory with an archive
3. Drag&drop the archive in the directory it is in
4. Watch the context menu

OBSERVED RESULT
Only copy, link and cancel are available.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should also be "Extract here", which appears when drag&dropping in a different directory

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.22.0
Qt Version: 6.10.1
Kernel Version: 6.18.5-zen1-1-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 16 GiB of RAM (13.5 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon Graphics
Graphics Processor 2: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Sure, there's "Extract here" in the context menu, but it's hidden in a sub-menu, which is fine, but it makes drag&dropping a faster and more convenient alternative.

kio 6.21 doesn't have the issue

https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/merge_requests/2074 broke the thing

I don't understand why this affects drag&drop in one folder if it's aimed at drag&drop of places.

Oh, never mind. The code checks if move is unavailable and if it's not, it disables other plugins. Move logically isn't available in the same folder, so it just disables all the plugins

JFYI you can also right-click on it and use any of the items in the Extract sub-menu.
Comment 4 Damglador 2026-01-16 18:40:24 UTC
I know, but it's slower.
