Created attachment 188504 [details] Showcase of the issue. SUMMARY When increasing the General font size by 1pt or more, desktop icons with a long name will overlap other icons. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Increase General font size by 1pt (System Settings -> Text & Fonts -> Fonts -> General -> Size 12). 2. Place two icons under each other on the desktop, top one having a longer name that spans across two lines. 3. Select the top icon. 4. Hover the cursor over the second icon. OBSERVED RESULT The top desktop icon is overlapping with the bottom one. EXPECTED RESULT No overlapping, just like when the General font is set to 11pt (default). SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 43 KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.22.0 Qt Version: 6.10.1
Created attachment 188509 [details] Floating panel, with increased font size. It seems that placing desktop icons at the bottom, combined with floating panels, makes the icon highlight cut off at the bottom. This is also caused by increasing the General font size by 1pt.
I cannot reproduce the issue with those steps on current git master. This sounds like Bug 490402, but that was already fixed. Can you reproduce the issue in a new clean user account on the same computer, with the only customization being that you increase the font size from its default value of 10 to 12?
I can reproduce this on a new user, with the only customization being the increased font size (12px). Tried installing KDE Linux in a VM for testing purposes, but it dropped me into emergency mode while booting the image. Instead I downloaded KDE Neon Unstable Edition (20260111-1146). Initially I wasn't able to reproduce it on KDE Neon, but after changing the resolution to 1920x1080, the bug appeared.
Fascinating. I can also reproduce the issue on a screen with 100% scale. I cannot reproduce it on a screen with 175% scale. What a weird and specific bug!
