Created attachment 188303 [details] the app view, you see the buttons are in german, the rest in english SUMMARY the UI has a mix of english and german. system language is us-gb. downloaded package and parts of the ui are in german. also, i have no button to set the language. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. download and install. 2. start. 3. be puzzled. OBSERVED RESULT mix of languages, in my case german and english EXPECTED RESULT only english SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS macOS: 15.7.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION no, it does not matter where i download it from. as you can see it's a wild mix.

This is fixed with Bug 510941 A digiKam-9.0.0 macOS pre-release is available here: https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Due to many other changes in this version, you should back up your database and perhaps avoid using it in a production environment. Maik
Hi Maik, thanks for the update and info. I just installed the 9.0.0 version, and i still have the same issue. I also have the issue in 8.7.0, so not only in 8.8.0 as the linked bug showed. should i reopen the original bug? anything else you want me to test?

Which macOS digiKam package are you using exactly, Qt6 (silicon) or Qt5 (Intel)? Please take a screenshot of your language selection dialog in digiKam. Maik

Overall en-GB has a history of breaking in those scenarios, while en-US works just fine. why, no idea. Just downloaded the newest version and the problem is still the same.
