SUMMARY
Ubuntu 20.04 has fatal errors since installation of "infozentrum" with GNOME 46

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.Environment: Ubuntu 24.04 with Gnome 46.
2.Install application "Infozentrum" via "Software" (That uses an "ubuntu" package manager- .deb? may be- noob here)

OBSERVED RESULT
3.After booting, Ubuntu reports critical errors

Sidenotes:
Linux Noob here. I don't know what KDE is, and did not install it conciously. The "Infozentrum" installed multiple apps from the KDE domain- KDEWallet, Klipper, and the actual KDE Systemeinstellungen - I guess the dev used the KDE Environment to create the menus and may be also information pulled from my system settings. However, it seems to conflict with Ubuntu Gnome somehow. This app should be removed from "Software" in Ubuntu or improved to avoid conflicts.

What are the errors?
Comment 2 former@gmx.ch 2026-01-03 14:53:00 UTC
Hi David,

Thanks for taking care! I am noob on linux, struggle with basics.
No screenshot from the original error message. I zipped some crash
reports from var/logs..but cannot send as they are too big with 32MB and
THE KDE interface doesn't allow more than 4MB. Do you have a suggestion
what data I can send you from all this logs and how I can do that best ?
Do you know any affordable, simple file upload service I can use, that
doesn't force the counterpart to open an account (as with dropbox) ? Or
can I use this bitTorrent for that purpose to get the data exlusively to
your organization ?

Coming from windows, I really miss a lot of things, respectively I don't
know where to find them, surely they are there.
Sorry, I can't offer more for now..that's the problem with complex
non-self-explaining systems and rookies..

best regards,
Phil

This are the error messages from the crash- 1.jan, around 11-12AM.

Hi David,
Ah, I found something else- an app "Protocolls" gave me some shorter information I can share I attached it as screenshot and in a moment also as text-this was the exact error message that popped up from GNOME on this conflict.
By the way, I escalated this also to the GNOME project, but they closed the ticket already saying Gnome 46 is no longer supported and a "distribution" is out of their influence..not sure who now is responsible as the "sofware" app explicitely linked with the GNOME project for support. Anyway- I hope the error message above helps further and a bigger log is available, I just don't know yet how to get to you.
best regards,
Phil
