Description Nope! 2025-12-27 23:48:35 UTC
SUMMARY
Basically, if you open Kdenlive in a directory that has diacritical marks, it won't be able to open any videos.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place the standalone folder in any directory, as long as the path to the directory goes through one folder with a diacritical mark.
(For example: "C:/Users/Cléhber/Desktop/Kdenlive Standalone/bin/kdenlive.exe")
2. Open Kdenlive from the standalone folder.
3. Import any video file into the Project bin.
4. Get an error.

OBSERVED RESULT
An error stating that it couldn't open the video file.

EXPECTED RESULT
No errors. Just fun and editing.

OS VERSION
Windows 11, 24H2, 64 bits.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Although I used the standalone version (and if my memory doesn't fail me), this bug also occurs in the installable version as well. But take this with a grain of salt. I'll leave a comment updating this info once I get to test this.

Heya, here's the update: This also happens on the installable wizard (or version, or setup, wathever.).

Fun fact! After reporting this issue, I had a brain fart and convinced myself that the installable wizard had two install options: an option to install only for the current user and an option to install for all users. Yes, I convinced myself that there were TWO standalone versions of kdenlive. Me dummy.

Also, i dunno what status pin i should give this. I'll give it "Assigned" under the belief that it means this comment is an extension of the issue.

Have a nice day, whoever is behind the screen reading this! (Imagine if someone prints this and reads it on a paper. Oh, the irony.)
