Created attachment 187619 [details] Screenshot Please add a user-visible option in System Settings → Notifications to hide or disable the visual timeout progress bar shown at the bottom of notification popups. Some users prefer clean notifications without the animated countdown indicator, while still keeping popup notifications enabled. Details: - Plasma 6 notification popups include a horizontal progress bar showing the remaining display time. - There is currently no setting to disable or hide only this element. - The bar can be visually distracting, and users may want popups without the countdown animation. - Having a toggle would improve customization and accessibility. Request: Provide an option (per-user, global) such as: “Hide timeout progress bar in notification popups.” Ref: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/issues/174#note_1366705
>ome users prefer clean notifications without the animated countdown indicator, while still keeping popup notifications enabled. I understand that some users have different preferences, but it's not our goal to try and cover all of them. Every option we add adds a considerable burden in terms of maintenance and exposes us to more bugs in future. Sorry
I apologize for bringing up preferences. Putting that aside, it is a visual distraction which can cause the user to lose focus as a result of the motion. The notification appearing is already enough motion to bring attention to it. There isn't a need to force a countdown bar to double down on the attention grabbing. Adding a switch to disable the countdown bar is a small change and would improve the UX considerably.
