Description Gea 2025-12-12 10:37:47 UTC
SUMMARY
On two Samsung Android devices with Android 13 it is not possible to find a train route between Austria and Germany (e.g. from Vienna to Munich for a date 3 days in the future) and it is also not possible to find a train route from Germany to Germany (e.g. Munich to Hamburg). But a connection is found in Austria to Austria (e. g. Vienna to Graz) and also from Germany to Belgium (e. g. Aachen to Liege). Behaviour is strange and on these 2 devices the same.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plan new travel in Itinerary
2. Choose as Start-point: München Hbf
3. Choose as End-Point: Hamburg Hbf
4. Choose as date a date 2 days in the future: 14.12.2025 at 9 o'clock

OBSERVED RESULT
Result: Could not find a travel, altough in DB-App a train is found

EXPECTED RESULT
Show a result as in DB-App with available Trains.

This works fine here, do you have any specific public transport backend selected in Setting > Public Transport Information Sources..., or are those all enabled (the default)?

It is not working with the default settings.
Comment 4 Gea 2025-12-12 17:34:58 UTC
So the mistake was found: after enabling a VPN-Connection to a german server, it worked. Maybe the "Public Transport Information Source" for Germany (Deutsche Bahn) has blocked the access for non german IP's?
Comment 5 Volker Krause 2025-12-14 15:27:55 UTC
That is entirely possible, we had issues like this before. We should probably improve the fallback handling in case the preferred backend fails to deliver results.

It's unexpected that this is dependent on searches beyond Dec 14 though (that's when DB switches to their winter schedule). So it might be that we actually queried another source as well which didn't have the new schedule data yet (rare, but technically possible). If you ever see this again, one way to gather information about what exactly happens there is to store a working result and export that. The resulting file will contain an indication where the data came from.

Sorry for the late reply:

Attached you find two exported files for a travel from Graz/Austria to Cologne/GER with activated VPN (Germany) for tomorrow (30.12.2025).

Again: it worked only with activated VPN, with deactivated it did not work!
