STEPS TO REPRODUCE Have an app demand attention, with an orange highlight. OBSERVED RESULT The auto-hide mode is paused until the app is interacted with. EXPECTED RESULT The app should put the panel's auto-hide mode on hold only for some time, ideally the time of a notification (5 seconds). That way the app gets to call the users attention without messing with usability. What's the problem with the status quo? What issue is it causing you?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > What's the problem with the status quo? What issue is it causing you? The issue is that I don't want to mark the Telegram message as read, nor I want to close the app because of my messages I've sent to myself. But because of that the auto-hide doesn't auto-hide.
Ah, so the issue is Telegram abusing the "needs attention" status for every single message. That is annoying indeed. Do you have any issues with other apps doing this? Or is it really just Telegram that's annoying enough to make you want the requesteded feature? Finally, is is not sufficient to uncheck the "unhide when window wants attention" checkbox in the Task Manager widget's settings window (on the "behavior" page)?
There's also another option: you can make Telegram stop doing this! It's really annoying indeed. Hamburger menu > Settings > Notifications and Sounds > turn off "Draw attention to the window"
Sounds promising. But I would still prefer if it gave it attention only for 5 seconds.
Let's try using the existing settings available and see if they reduce the desire you're feeling for this feature. Ideally the "needs attention" state is rarely used by apps, such that you really do need to be interrupted and handle it. In such a case, only appearing for 5 seconds would not be ideal because you could easily miss it.
