Description digikam 2025-12-08 15:05:07 UTC
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Running digikam
2. detecting and naming some faces
3. creating a structure of familyname as a parent node and many firstname-tags at the face-hirarchie as child nodes at the left side of the screen
4. right-click at the parent-node to switch with "removing as face-node"

OBSERVED RESULT
--> then there is the Message like "all child nodes were removed from face-tags as well"

EXPECTED RESULT
 - Please not!
They are face-tags
I just don't want any sugestions for the family-tag as a face.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Ubuntu 25.10 - dist-upgrade 2 Weeks ago and upgraded on a weekly base

Unfortunately, this isn't possible; all tags under "People" will be changed to "People" or must be "People" tags.

As a workaround, create the family name outside of "People" and move your names there.

I also don't see a problem with the family name being a "Person" tag.
We need a hierarchy to store this in the normal tag metadata.
Because normally, facial tags are flat in terms of metadata.
