Can't reproduce. With which global theme do you see this happening, and at what time of day does it happen?

I notice it in the morning/day when the global theme is Breeze Light.
Very weirdly, if an external screen is connected, the dark version will show on whichever is the primary screen, and the correct light version on the other. Reapplying wallpapers or changing display settings doesn't fix it. I did a full reinstall and it's still happening.

I am not able to reproduce on Plasma built from git-master

I already had the Breeze Dark global theme in use
I chose the Wallpaper: Orionids
Plugged in an external monitor to the laptop
Set the global theme to "Breeze" (on Solus this is the light variant) and enabled "Switch to Dark mode at Night". I kept the default Breeze themes for light and dark

I set manual sunrise and sunset times to observe the full cycle. Things worked as expected.

I'll keep this configuration for now, with switching based on actual sunrise and sunset and see if anything unusual happens

Are you still affected by this bug? It could be related to the kind of wallpaper you're using as seen in my own report #513876

For me it happens with any wallpaper, including the default ones
