Description kde 2025-12-04 06:33:35 UTC
SUMMARY
After rotating some pictures, when the files are to be shown after a Search or selecting someone in the People tab, the preview isn't available.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (I think, I don't have other pictures that need rotation)
1. Rotate the pictures (multiples selected) by using the keyboard shortcut (maybe the fact my NAS was working hard (scrubbing) and made the network/access and so the rotation very slow could have something to do with it)
2. Wait for the pictures to complete rotation
3. Search for picture name

OBSERVED RESULT
The picture is found, the thumbnail isn't rotated, double clicking the picture to get a preview shows a blank space and a notice in the top right corner: Failed to load image. The Properties pane seems wrong as the path displayed is the root of my collection (not the real picture path). Other basic properties are still shown.

The same image in the People tab shows a green icon instead of the face thumbnail in list view. In the Preview view, the behavior is identical to what I described for the search.

In album view, everything is fine: the image is rotated and the preview works.

EXPECTED RESULT
Everything works as it actually does in the album view.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 11 Pro 24H2

Which file format ?
Image can be open in editor (not preview) ?

Please create a DebugView log of the process, as described here for Windows:

https://www.digikam.org/contribute/#windows-host
(Restart digiKam after enabling internal debugging.)

I suspect a problem with your NAS/connection that is being lost.

Sorry, I actually did miss the reply. The files for which I had the problem were jpeg but "unfortunately" I didn't get the problem afterward so I suppose we can close this as unreproducible. :(
