SUMMARY I don't really know how to properly show the issue, as I don't have anything on the system that can show the audio coming from each channel, but when I use the "VLC player" audio engine I only get audio from one side (the right earbud), while changing to "QT multimedia" solves the problem. Sources I'm experiencing it: - https://realmen.it/podcast.rss - https://feeds.transistor.fm/complex-systems-with-patrick-mckenzie-patio11 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Kasts settings 2. Go to "General" 3. Change audio engine from "QT multimedia" to "VLC player" OBSERVED RESULT Audio gets directed only through one channel EXPECTED RESULT Audio should be played through bot channels SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 43 KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.20.0 Qt Version: 6.10.1 Kernel Version: 6.17.8-300.fc43.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz Memory: 16 GiB of RAM (15.4 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: llvmpipe Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 7052A9G System Version: ThinkCentre M91p ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Kasts: 25.08.3 Build ABI: x86_64-little_endian-lp64
This is a known issue with Fedora. I don't know why, but it seems that it's related to some default for VLC output (into pipewire?). I don't think there is a setting that Kasts has access to to override this. But I can double check again. I think there are even open duplicates of this ticket.
Confirmed
If we can find an issue reported to Fedora I can go there and we can close this issue, if it really is upstream.
