Description David de Cos 2025-11-26 20:07:42 UTC
SUMMARY
If you activate the Present Windows (all desktops) effect and click on one of the windows, you will see for a second the windows in other virtual desktops while it's focusing on the one you clicked.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have multiple virtual desktops (I have a 2x2 arrangement), and place windows in more than one of them. Make sure they don't all occupy the same area of the screen (e.g. one window is on the left, another one is on the right, another is maximized, etc).
2. Assign Present Windows (all desktops) to one of the screen edges.
3. Activate the effect by going to that edge and click on one of the windows.

OBSERVED RESULT
While the desktop is focusing on the window you clicked on, the others are shown for a split second, as if they were in the same desktop as the one you chose.

EXPECTED RESULT
Yo should only see the contents of the virtual desktop where the window you clicked on is. That's always been the case until recently, I think I only started noticing this bug since I updated to Plasma 6.5.

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20251124
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.20.0
Qt Version: 6.10.0
Kernel Version: 6.17.8-2-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Graphics Processor: Intel® HD Graphics 520

I have tested this now in another computer, this one with Kubuntu 25.10, so I think it's probable safe to say that anyone can reproduce the bug (unless it's specifically related to Intel graphics, the only thing in common between both computers):
Operating System: Kubuntu 25.10
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.20.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2
Kernel Version: 6.17.0-7-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Graphics Processor: Intel® HD Graphics 4000

Video capture of the bug

In this video you can see the bug in action. I have 3 windows in different virtual desktops, and jump between them through the Present Windows effect.

Once I click on a Window, the windows in other virtual desktops should fade, as they've always done before Plasma 6.5. But now, as you can see in the video, they are clearly (i.e. not fading) shown for half a second, then disappear abruptly.

This is obviously not a critical bug, but it brings sloppiness to an action that I perform hundreds of times a day, which had always been beautiful and crisp.
