Created attachment 187162 [details] Screenshot of bug reported above. I am following the logical step in an attempt to import a CSV file. I get to the screen where I am prompted to select the File, in addition to the type of account e.g. Bank, Currency prices, etc. However, nothing I do will allow me to progress from this screen to Add or Search for a file.
Sending to the KMyMoney project Can you please let us know what version of KMyMoney you have installed? Thanks.
Hi, please tell me where to find the version identifier? I do not see it on the main screen,. KMyMoney version 5.0 -----Original Message----- From: TraceyC <bugzilla_noreply@kde.org> Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 2025 12:54 PM To: whoward6744@gmail.com Subject: [kmymoney] [Bug 512597] Unable to Import CSV file https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=512597 TraceyC <kdedev@tlcnet.info> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |kdedev@tlcnet.info Component|general |importer Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO Assignee|unassigned-bugs-null@kde.or |kmymoney-devel@kde.org |g | Status|REPORTED |NEEDSINFO Product|kde |kmymoney --- Comment #1 from TraceyC <kdedev@tlcnet.info> --- Sending to the KMyMoney project Can you please let us know what version of KMyMoney you have installed? BillH, First, when replying to a bug by email, please remove everything from your message except your response. Your entire email becomes the next Comment in the bug, and leaving in what you are replying to clutters up the bug making it harder to read. Thanks. You can get the version from Help/About KMyMoney. 5.0 is very old at this point, and no longer supported. If you are really on 5.0, and that wasn't a typo, please first try upgrading to a 5.2 version, available from https://kmymoney.org/windows.html. You are correct that once you specify which type of import you are doing (banking, ....) and select or add a new import profile, clicking on Select File should take you to a file chooser dialog to specify the csv file. For a new profile, you need to type the name to use, and then click "Add" before proceeding.

I'm not certain, but try typing Ctl-M to display the menu bar. I'm curious how you got to the import screen in your first screenshot.
Created attachment 187169 [details] Screenshot 2025-11-25 131742.jpg Hi, I have 5.2 installed. I notice that there is no prompt to Import either CSV or QIF files, (see attached). Is there something I missed during the install of 5.2 that allows me to do this? Bill
Created attachment 187170 [details] Screenshot 2025-11-25 140054.jpg I have made progress with a re-install - up until the attached screenshot. Initial message was incorrect Date format which was corrected. Then the Decimal symbol was attempted using the 3 options - but I am unable to proceed with the upload. Bill
On the "rows" page of the wizard you need to exclude header and footer rows and only import the rows with actual transaction data.
Jack - Thank you-although those rows were blank, the program must have recognized them as having data? Again, thank you for your patience and support. They are not blank - they have values in column 4. KMM tries to import the rows you tell it to. Between imports, it remembers the number of header and footer rows excluded from import, but it otherwise does not try to figure out which rows are valid. I assume the date error was because there was no date in the field. You do need to set those values first on the "rows" page. (again - please delete the previous message if replying by email.)
Well, since my investment broker has now stopped providing any download except csv, I'm trying to import a csv file. After choosing the rows to only include rows with real data, the Columns page looked OK, but the Formats kept insisting invalid format in column 1 (date) for any of the three formats (for which y-d-m is clearly the right one.) This was with banking format (OK for this particular data since there were no investment transactions.) I couldn't use the investment format since the bank didn't provide sufficient data columns. The formats page had red background for all header and footer rows plus all of column 1 - so I'm not sure what it's actually complaining about. I don't know how soon I'll have time to run under a debugger to see if I can tell what it's thinking, although perhaps I can add some debug output.
On closer look, my problem is different from the OP. All the values in my file are surrounded by double quotes, but KMM seems to include the closing quote within the value to be imported. If I can't figure out why that happens I'll open a separate bug report. Bill - can you confirm that you have set the rows correctly? Also, for what role have you select column 4? It is a running balance, so I don't think it is useful for importing.
