Description Nate Graham 2025-11-20 16:02:56 UTC
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Koko (I'm using the nightly Flatpak build, which may be relevant)
2. Browse to any image
3. Overflow menu > Open With…

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens. The journal log shows:

Couldn't get reply
Error: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown"

EXPECTED RESULT
Either a dialog to pick another app, or preferably a more Spectacle/Dolphin style UI where the "Open With" menu item shows a sub-menu of eligible apps, with an "Other application" menu item at the bottom to let you choose something else.

I think this may actually be the fault of plasma-integration and I have started looking into a fix. The problem is that plasma-integration has a side channel with XDP to produce a slightly more featureful open with dialog. But that obviously is not available when sandboxed, or indeed outside plasma. We'll probably need plasma-integration to fall back to the less featureful API when inside a sandbox.
