*** Notice it: Settings -- Configure digiKam -- Views -- Categories is contain a blank line. Right click an Album -- Properties -- Category In the Combo Box is double blank line. It seems that digiKam adds an extra blank line to the combo box.

An empty line is intentional, allowing for the creation of an empty category. I cannot reproduce a double empty line. Maik
I believe the issue with the duplicate category and incorrect translation has already been fixed. However, this requires that the entry in the digikamrc file be deleted and recreated by a current digikam version. Maik
