SUMMARY Desktop icon won't highlight when cursor is moving in certain pattern, like from left side of the icon to the right side. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have some icons in a row on the top left corner of the desktop 2. Move cursor to 1st icon on the left 3. Move cursor all the way to the right OBSERVED RESULT Only the first icon shows grey background (highlighted) when cursor enters its boundary. EXPECTED RESULT All icons should be highlighted when cursor enters boundary correspondingly. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0 Qt Version: 6.10.0 Kernel Version: 6.17.7-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.2 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Btw, the highlight used to be light blue for my setup, but it changed to grey after last update. Idk how this works, new here, but will try. Can confirm the problem with the icons of the desktop not getting highlighted when one or several conditions are met. The BUG is not limited only to movements from LEFT to RIGHT, it actually has several specific patterns of reproduction. 1. Hovering consecutive icons from the same row left to right: Only first icon is highlighted, on each break(space/missing icon) next icon is highlighted but after that the rest of the consecutive icons aren't. 2. Hovering consecutive icons from TOP to BOTTOM: Any icon with 2 or more rows of text in the name will make it's next icon to NOT be highlighted, this can be stacked to infinitum, several icons with 2 or more rows put one below the other will chain this effect until an icon with shorter name is hovered or if there is space until next icon, which will cancel it until another icon with longer name is hovered again. 3. Hovering from BOTTOM to TOP: If the FIRST icon has a name longer than 2 rows it will not be highlighted but consecutive icons WILL, total oposite of #1 by the exception of the longer name requirement, which #1 doesn't need. Note: Changing the Desktop sort alignment from "Context menu -> Icons -> Sort Alignment -> Right to Left" will invert #1 direction of the bug, instead of happening from left to right, now will happen only from right to left, this does not affect #2 and #3. Just did an "upgrade"(paru -Syu) today, now i'm on KDE v6.5.3 and bug is seemingly ALMOST fixed, now the only highlight that is not working is when entering an icon with long name from below(bottom to top) with space below it(no other icon).... so 90% there. https://drive.google.com/file/d/134hhUGHq_k7Zxxpgk3uUhNiDJyT-pBYL/view
(In reply to SGGhostRider from comment #1) Nice dude...! That was a detailed reproduce guide!
Created attachment 187346 [details] Recording Partially fixed, in recording you can see: 1. Icon bg highlighted when mouse pointer moving left to right or vice versa 2. Icon bg not highlighted if the icon has 2 lines of text and pointer moving from bottom to top slowly 3. Icon bg not highlighted when icon is selected and pointer is hovering above. 4. Icon bg is grey, but it was faint blue according to my theme config before this issue.
