Description Kloud 2025-11-14 11:59:11 UTC
SUMMARY
When setting task manager scrolling behavior to "Cycles though hovered task's windows". It works as expected, except when scrolling on an empty area in the task manager, no window is switched. In the previous plasma versions before scrolling behavior changes it was working as expected. On plasma 6.1 if I remember correctly

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set task manager scrolling behavior to "Cycles though hovered task's windows"
2. Have some empty space in the task manager without windows
3. Scroll on it

OBSERVED RESULT
No window is switched

EXPECTED RESULT
Task manager scrolls through all windows and when hovering over an application - scrolls through that applications' windows

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0
Qt Version: 6.10.0
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Thanks for the report. Can you step me through how you set things up so the task manager has empty spaces? From what I see on my systems, the task manager (whether icons-only or icons and text) only takes up as much space as the pinned and open applications. The area outside of the applications is the panel, but not included in the task manager. A screen recording to demonstrate what you're describing would be really helpful.

Also, this behavior seems to be by design. As the setting says, it will cycle through the windows of the task you're hovering over. It does not indicate it will do anything else. I'll change this to wishlist, since this is a feature request, and not a bug.

Ah, didn't notice the comment... I have the task manager set to "Fill free space on the panel" so there is an empty area to the right in my case with no windows. In the previous versions of plasma scrolling on this area scrolled through all windows even if the setting was set to "scroll though individual application windows". Maybe it could be a checkbox in the ui or maybe a separate dropdown (?)
- scrolling on application windows area + dropdown
- scrolling on empty are + dropdown
