Description famine_cavalier538 2025-11-13 11:12:17 UTC
SUMMARY
After updating to Fedora 43 Kinoite from 42 Kinoite, taking screenshots is very inconsistent as often the image is not copied to the clipboard.

In case the image gets copied successfully, it is possible to paste it inside an application (Telegram) but it is not possible to paste it in Dolphin: the popup for the filename appears but the photo does not get saved. Reopening Dolphin also does not seem to refresh the contents, indicating that the saving itself does not happen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Press Prt Scr key
2. Select area to screenshot, then press CTRL+C or Copy button
3. Press CTRL+V to bring up the clipboard
4. Notice the empty contents

OBSERVED RESULT
The screenshot is not copied to the clipboard.
Also, the screenshot cannot be pasted inside Dolphin as it does not get saved.

EXPECTED RESULT
The screenshot gets copied to the clipboard every time a new screenshot is taken and CTRL+C or the Copy button is clicked.
Also, the clipboard can paste contents into Dolphin for saving the picture to the filesystem.

Thanks for the bug report. This looks like bug 509065, so I'll merge this report in with that one.

I think it's more likely to be Bug 511736.

Famine Cavalier, does it work reliably if you accept the screenshot with the "Accept" button and then click "Copy" in Spectacle's main window? If so, then this is Bug 511736.
