Description kde 2025-11-12 17:38:40 UTC
SUMMARY

Power profiles are not switched when AC is connected or disconnected while system is asleep.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect or disconnect AC power while the system is asleep.
2. Wake up system.

OBSERVED RESULT

Power profile remains in the previous state.

EXPECTED RESULT

The power profile should switch to reflect the current state of AC / battery power.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.18.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

To be clear, the power profile is properly updated when AC is connected / disconnected while the system is awake. I assume that the failure to update the power profile when AC is connected / disconnected while the system is asleep is due to the fact that Plasma / PowerDevil isn't receiving AC connected / disconnected events while the system is asleep, and Plasma / PD doesn't actively poll the AC / battery state in order to determine when to switch profiles. But Plasma / PD actually is always aware of the current AC / battery state, even when it changes while the machine is asleep, since the system tray Power and Battery widget always shows the correct status of the battery (charging, discharging, etc.) even when AC has been connected / disconnected while the machine is asleep, so why isn't the power profile being updated even in such cases?

Here's my powerdevilrc:

[AC][Performance]
PowerProfile=performance

[AC][SuspendAndShutdown]
AutoSuspendIdleTimeoutSec=3600

[Battery][Performance]
PowerProfile=balanced

[Battery][SuspendAndShutdown]
AutoSuspendIdleTimeoutSec=1800

[BatteryManagement]
BatteryCriticalAction=1

[LowBattery][Performance]
PowerProfile=power-saver

Thanks for the bug report. This looks the same as bug 501943 so I'll merge this report in with that one.
