Description Christoph Thielecke 2025-11-11 18:02:40 UTC
I want to import an binary in intel hex format.
Okteta seem not have an import for it.

Please implement import of intel hex format (or better: all already available as export).

Hi Christoph, thanks for filing your interest in this feature. Sadly support for import is a wanted but missing feature since the very start some ages ago. See also the comments on the bug report on the predecessor KHexEdit which I inherited for Okteta. No promises sadly if/when this will be ever implemented.

When it comes to displaying non-continuous areas as possible with the intel hex format (AFAIK), would you have any special needs which could be considered when ever implementing support?
Any user stories for your interactions with such data?
How would you like to navigate the data, what properties would you like to see displayed, what actions would you perform on them?
Any similar tools which could serve as inspirations, and if so what do they well and what not so?

Please leave your suggestions with that other bug report. Again, no promises, but knowing more about needs might help to inspire interest/motivation to try some solution :)
