SUMMARY When the Insert mode is on, the clip disappears in timeline after dragging with a mouse if dragged past the last clip in a track OR onto the other track. The clip remains invisible in timeline, but this "empty" spot is played normally. This happens every time, when the clip is dragged to the rightmost part of the timeline, past the last clip. Also, the project file is NOT treated as changed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Load a project with some clips in timeline. 2. Engage Insert mode. 3. Drag any clip past the last clip in the timeline. (Or drag the clip onto any other track.) 4. Put the playback head past the last visible clip in the timeline and play back. 5. (optionally) Close project. OBSERVED RESULT The dragged clip disappears. The playhead past the last clip allows the playback on empty zone of timeline (showing the contents of the disappeared clip). No asterisk sign appeared in the Kdenlinve window after changing the project. Closing the project (or loading another project) does NOT prompt to save the changed project, ignoring the fact that the project has been changed. EXPECTED RESULT After dragging a clip with a mose to any direction, the selected clip remains visible. After releasing the mouse button the clip remains on the timeline. Asterisk sign appears in the window header, showing the project has been altered. When closing the project, the program advises to save the altered project. Created attachment 186707 [details] Clip disappers if dragged right; no save warning (three situations)
(In reply to na-5000 from comment #1) > Created attachment 186707 [details] > Clip disappers if dragged right; no save warning (three situations) Is this supposed to be a video or three screenshots? The link in the attachment only shows one image.
I can reproduce in 25.08.3 Flatpak on Pop!_OS
(In reply to Bernd from comment #3) > I can reproduce in 25.08.3 Flatpak on Pop!_OS Correction: 25.08.2 Flatpak. Confirmed also for appimage 25.08.3. Occasionally, the dragged/moved clip shows up in the timeline when another one is moved around, but as soon as you select the clip in Insert Mode, it disappears.

The GIF in the attachment is a «video» showing the three different situations: * clip disappears, empty space is concidered a clip, and saving is not advised by KDENLIVE after the project is altered; * clip disappears if moved on the other track; saving project is advised by KDENLIVE * clip disappears if moved around. >Среда, 12 ноября 2025, 18:23 +03:00 от Bernd < bugzilla_noreply@kde.org >: > >https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511964 > >Bernd < berndmj@yahoo.com > changed: > >What |Removed |Added >---------------------------------------------------------------------------- >CC| |berndmj@yahoo.com >Status|REPORTED |NEEDSINFO >Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO > >--- Comment #2 from Bernd < berndmj@yahoo.com > --- >(In reply to na-5000 from comment #1) >> Created attachment 186707 [details] >> Clip disappers if dragged right; no save warning (three situations) > >Is this supposed to be a video or three screenshots? I found that the situation can be summorized: 1. The INSERT mode is ON 2. The clip you are dragging is the LAST clip in the timeline. Also, the program logic seems to be working like this: 1. When a user starts draggin the clip... 2. ... the clip is rendered invisivle... 3. ... untill the mouse button is depressed... 4. ... which follows the other clips to move right and... 5. ... after that the drugged clip is rendered visible again. It seems to me, that the step 5 is messing with the time line structure, which makes the program: 1) cease to update the project's 'contents'; 2) consequentyl, treat the clip as absent in the timeline. The consequences of (1) are: (a) undo is not working; and (b) saving the project is not advised; and (3) reopening of the SAME project ('revert' behaviour) is not perfomed (if to try to open the same project, no appent chaneges occur). This behaviour is NOT present in Kdenlive 25.03.*
UPDATE: ANY clip, if dragged (a) in INSERT mode to renders invisible while dragging. (b) if dragged (while being invisible) to the LEFT, after releasing the mouse button appears in the timeline. (c) if the clip in the track is the RIGHTMOST on the TRACK (not necessarily the last clip in the timeline) -- it renders invisible and the project is treated as unchanged (providing that (c) was the ONLY action performed in the project).
