I spoke with Nate about this and while Elisa is a library-based audio player, most others that I have used in the past had a single button to open a file from the filesystem. I spent a while looking for this until asking Nate and he said the button wasn't there but adding one was a good idea.

The Bugzilla bot seems slow today. This is implemented with https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/elisa/-/commit/ee2733f5408ad7accdc6b659249d13e4741f4dca, which is coming in Elisa 26.04.0!
Git commit ee2733f5408ad7accdc6b659249d13e4741f4dca by Nate Graham. Committed on 19/11/2025 at 19:13. Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'. Let the user open music files from within the app You can already do this from an external app, from the command line, and via-drag-and-drop. But we're missing a way to open a music file from within the app itself. Add it to the existing "Load" button, which becomes an "Open" button and can now accept music files as well as playlist files.
