SUMMARY
I press CTRL+ALT+O to quick open a file in my project but several files from other projects are shown as well (despite it being set to only open current project). Search in project does not find the files, they are not in the project. Funnily enough, when I run kate as kate ~/ Zdroje_a_programy/dev/subtitleeditor/ these files are not found. I am attaching a screenshot that hopefully makes it clearer - the thing is the files named "kim_*" should not appear, they are not part of the open project (but exist in a directory next to the project - no idea why not all files from that directory appear and what them being bold means. They are not in recent files)

The "bold" entries are documents that are currently open (They may not have a a tab). You can close them using the Documents plugin.

Aha, indeed, they were hanging there across dozens of app restarts - I have not opened those files in several weeks. I would say that that is a bit suboptimal but no idea how that happened :-).
