I'm encountering an issue where I insert a new video layer and the projects crashes. When I try to open the project back up again, it hangs on the "Building Sequences" loading bar and then closes out the project. I thought this was a small issue cause I had a video layer with effects on it. So I restarted on another project, did my usual and only had the two video layers that comes with the default project. Recorded my audio, and was about to add a single video layer. When I add that extra layer, I encountered the same issue again. I tried both the Flatpak and AppImage versions. Same issues apply. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use a 9:16 Project and Save it. 2. Add few clips/Images and then add a new video layer 3. If It crashes, try and see if the project can be reopened. OBSERVED RESULT Project crashes when opening. EXPECTED RESULT Opens project like normal SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Linux/KDE Plasma: Zorin OS 17.3 KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I reverted back to the 25.04.03 release and surprisingly my projects that struggle to open, opens with no issues. I can even add extra layers and effects without the editor crashing. So I assume this is a bug with the 25.08.2 release.
I cannot reproduce this behavior in 25.08.3 appimage, 25.08.2 flatpak and appimage. Please try again with the 25.08.3 appimage, and if the problem persists, provide screenshots or (better) screen recordings of your actions and the crashes. Thanks!
