SUMMARY
Spectacle used to have a nice UI with a sidebar that allowed to access all important options with a single click. Now the main options are hidden in a "new screenshot" menu, requiring two clicks and navigation in a menu with smaller click targets than the old buttons, making it slower to quickly take a screenshot, e.g., of a certain point in an animation or video. Other parts of the UI are now moved into a settings menu. While options like "quit after save" might be something that is changed rarely, direct access to the "delay before taking the screenshot" was very useful.

I am not sure what the rationale for the changes were, but I think in most my use-cases I have more clicks and the bit of horizontal space for the preview doesn't seem a too big advantage when I also can resize the window. One could consider putting the elements at top or bottom, such that a windows with a default ratio like 1:1 or 4:3 would have space for buttons and a widescreen screenshot at the same width as it has with the version 6.5.1 UI.

The number input widget looks a bit broken inside the menu. Do you know against which KDE/Plasma component I should report a bug for that?

I'm changing this from normal to wishlist, since it's a feature request rather than a bug.

To be honest, I don't think there's a way to recreate the old UI entirely from the development side. We can consider (re)adding a toolbar, like other KDE apps have, which might be able to be customized. I'll let the developers weigh in on this.

I'm not sure what widget you're referring to, i don't see a widget by that name in the add/remove ui and I don't see anything like that in my panel. All widgets are under plasmashell, so you can create a bug under plasmashell - general. We can recategorize it if necessary.

Sure, I didn't change much fields, wishlist is fine.

I think a few actions should be directly accessible. I mostly need new screenshot (rectangular) and changing the delay.

The settings menu has a "delay:" entry with a number input widget to the right. That one looks off.

The number input seems to break the menu. The black part is a black background in the spectacle window, the white part a white background of a window behind the spectacle window. The parts are transparent expect for the number widget and the label (without background)

Thanks for clarifying. Since that's a separate issue from making more options available on the toolbar, please open a new bug report for it. Thanks.
